Australian Triples Rally

$4,650 for a new fuel pump .. f#ck me. We've been sussing out a new 4X4 for when our novated lease runs out on the D22 .. not heard good things about the Fords hey. Blokes I've spoken to reckon the Mazda is way better vehicle. Fords really tough with warranty claims they reckon .. Mazda can't do enough to help customers .. so I've heard anyway.
Electronic part of fuel pump chucked it in. Running normally pulled up and turned it off. Wouldn't start no fuel just like that. $3100 for exchange pump and seals. Over $1500 in labour. Pissed off about that and missing out on Leyburn. Nissan had the car since Tues morning but wouldn't start till they could give me an accurate price after the fuel pump place had their show holiday on Wed. Started wielding spanners after lunch yesterday. Was looking at a new V8 diesel tray back Landcruiser. Julie knocked that on the head, not enough seats for anticipated grandchildren apparently. Got to be a crew cab.

Don't know how many hours but if it's like most mechanics I deal with they will be on $100 to $110 an hour + GST. It is at the local Nissan Dealer so I expect I'm getting ripped off. I have a bad habit of hanging onto things too long. Should have upgraded before this happened but when things are sailing along with no drama.

How'd ya be if you were in the middle of the Nullarbor and that happened.
Electronic systems are usually good but like anything these days, they're built to sell cheap and not to last.
I'll be sticking with my 80 series cruiser and the mechanical fuel pump to make sure I get home from the out of the way spots.

3 Hurricanes in 1 place anday be more turn up today.

More similar than the same , unless I've been misled mate. Power supply guy I know has had both in his largish fleet .. has 30+ 4WD's .. Rangers and Mazdas , told me the Mazda did everything better .. rode better on the bitumen , more comfortable , handled the rough tracks better , towed better .. and they have honoured every warranty claim .. so he reckons anyway.

Been out looking at new trucks today. The one we are looking at isn't much change out of $60k and then bullbar and canopy another 5 or 6. Another new Patrol is about $10k less but haven't updated virtually the same vehicle as the 15 year old one I have now. Don't know which way to go yet.
