Help With Mystery Sump Fitting

My bad sorry friend , deleted silly post and feel like an ass-clown , good luck with the fix

I appreciate that you took the time to try to help me. You know a lot about this stuff so you see a lot of possibilities in a question.

I think it is only an oilway plug. Tapered pipe thread so finger tight then approximately 1 to 1 1/2 turns with a gob of sealant.
The only change to the sump that I know of is early in the 2005 model year when the drain plugs on the end were moved to the underside?

ok in the picture below there are yellow plugs which are the plugs that you remove during a oil change. They they torque to 25 NM . The red plugs which I think are the ones you pulled out by accident are galley plugs they also torque to 25 nm I believe they are pipe taper thread some type of thread sealant should be used but not necessarily a hard thread locker but I bet a medium grade Blue Loctite would work fine. The orange circles are the bolts people usually miss when pulling the sump pan.

Here is a shot from the manual

You can also see the old silver engine had the same plugs just different because of the oil galley locations on the design.

Hope this helps

Thanks, Warp9, that is a great post. Is the "red plug" one of the "dry seal" plugs (part T3450005)?

Yes they probably come pre-coated before installation. I would not be afraid to use Permatex or some type of sealant. Since it and the female threads are oily you might have to try some Teflon tape but rap it so none ends up going into the sump area.

To be honest when I pulled both of mine years ago to see how much more oil would drain during a oil change I just run them back in and they have never leaked a bit.
