Has the ignition problem been fixed ?

OK - finally see the range 482858 to 500140 and from 503167 > has the extra relay
(the earlier range is presumably the retrofit)

This is essentially the same scheme as used on Sprints - it has a constant feed to the starter/headlight-cut relay and then an additional relay enabled by the instrument lighting circuit to disable the power to the headlights when the key is off.
So it achieves the goal of bypassing current through the key-switch, but does nothing for improving their efficiency.

So, going back to the original question at the very beginning of the thread:

... I've read a lot about this ignition problem that can be resolved with the EB relay. I just bought a 2014 roadster.
Does anyone know if the newer bikes have the same problem?

The answer is definitively NO - the headlight current no longer passes through the Key-Switch. So is resolved in that regard of the reliability issue.
However gains in the light output performance can still be had by installing a relay kit with better wiring scheme.

Note also however that the R3T does NOT have this extra relay, so its current still flows through the key-switch. But that is only 5A since it's a single headlight, vs the 10A of the Roadsters.

Finally something more current!

Do you have the current touring schematic/wiring diagram as well? Can you please post the ledger for this diagram and the touring if you have it...Thanks.

Oops...I guess I missed seeing the previous post of the R3T diagram. Not sure if it's a current diagram though???? Although with ABS it probably is.

Note that 1olbull provided all of these - I just re-knitted them together into single diagram
The Touring/ABS version is in post #46; the non-ABS Touring is in the Manual that is available elsewhere on the forum

@DEcosse

Ok....Thanks. I just copied the ABS version .jpg as I saw it after making my post to you. I have the non ABS version which is what I have downloaded off from the forum. Dated 2007 I think. I just thought there might have been a more current version available somewhere. I also have the non ABS ledger as well. Probably nothing has changed.

Ken,
Me thinks this is information IMPORTANT to ALL of us Rocket riders!
Your helpful expertise has finally sorted out this ignition switch issue once and for all in a way we all can understand!
Should be a STICKY in my opinion!

Wow, you guys are awesome. So I don't have to worry about getting stranded because the ignition failed, but it's still inefficient and if I do the mod I will get better lighting.

That's why I did it a couple years ago on my 2012 R3R.
Ain't knowing $hit cool? :D
Of course now it's all redundant because my ignition is completely eliminated with my DEcosse Wireless Ignition System.

Am I the only one that thinks it is hilarious that @Bedifferent keeps mentioning the current wiring diagram?:laugh:

You being a funny boy mocking my obsession with Current be it electrical or otherwise? :p

Ok...how do you turn these ****ed Italics off!!!!!! :banghead:

Well that makes no sense at all....Italics is currently highlighted and I don't have any italics!! :banghead:
