The three of us because we own harley's

883 be OK for someone over 70. No way anyone would still be on a Rocket at that age unless they'd lost their mind. Eh Ruzzle? ;)

bought Rocket October 2013, turned 68 September 2013. Two years to see If I lost my mind. Hell of a lot of fun finding out.

Told wife would convert R3 to a trike when I turn 80.

my wife has an 883 superlow.........it is a good starter bike for her. I forgot to ask the lead thread if "Jo and Chriss" were women.
his and hers.jpg
no no Chriss says its a good commuter, Joe hasn't bought the night rod yet but its one of the better Harley's you can do more than just commuting and his is going to fit a turbo kit on the night rod when he gets it , and Dave i think has his head stuck in the sand now

Night rod with a turbo will be nearly as fast as a stock Roadster. Have a mate with a $29000 Vrod with over $10000 poured into it and he can almost keep up with my Roadster with a pipe and dyno tune. He doesn't particuly enjoy being reminded of that.

Turbo'ed V-Rods go pretty hard .. I found that out when I lined up against one on the outskirts of Darwin's rural area .. done me like a dinner as they say

Cut it out you blokes .. a lot of 883 riders are deluded and confused about what exactly it is they have purchased ( and how they are viewed by "you real bikers" ) ..hahahahahaha .. be kind to them.

Yes ,I have often thought this and I feel sorry for them. Its a cheap way to buy the image and that's about all they get. I was looking through the classifieds a few months back at the prices of 883 on the used market and I noticed that out of 130 for sale in oz only about 6 had more than 30000klms.
And the majority were sub 10000klms,so owners are obviously not riding them as often you would think.
They are uncomfortable horrible little things with short range tanks, maybe best suited as short distance commuter on nice roads.
R3s often get sold with low klms also but most of us who own them are in the more generous years:p.
Those that buy the 883 are usually sub 25yo and at that age you should riding the pants off a new bike.
I think the Triumph Speedmaster and America are much better bikes for the dollar.Lots of legroom and a bit more HP
