Panniers for a 2013 roadster

I had Hardstreets and I believe they're not too sturdy. I replaced them with leather Cs4. Much of the storage space, at least for the Slimbags, was in the top cover. Also, the locking mechanism blocks the opening. The Leatherlykes appear much more sturdy.

This is what the Hardstreet Slimbags look like on a TBird. I mounted them with easy Brackets. They look nice but the Slimbags don't have much room.

I think the Leatherlykes are good bags - a bit ugly. Long ago, I remember some problems with the mounting on the bag wearing or cracking but I've seen good reviews. They say the capacity is 25 quarts but this seems like for one bag. The 820 and 821 models look huge.

At last somebody from SA with a Roadster!! Freddy - I am from Potchefstroom and also ride a 2013 Roadster and yes, to find any aftermarket products for our bikes here is a nightmare! Hopefully we can get in contact and share info??

Hey Jeprocket - sounds like a plan! I live by Rand Airport in the S.E. so do most of my riding in the south. My cell is 082 458 9573, lets hook up

My bike has the LeatherLyke Cross Country bags on it. Conchos and studs are not my style, but a fairly sturdy bag that is lockable and easily removed, but not very portable. Here is the catalog pic:

I plan to replace them with something else.

Leatherlyke has a model without the studs. How has the quick release mechanism held up? Is the outer surface leather like? They are a lot more substantial than HardStreet. I had Vartex K-Drive on my 2005 R3 and liked them a lot. Unfortunately, they don't make them anymore. Cs4 took them over but the quality of the synthetic material isn't as good.

Doug -

They are hard shell plastic or fiberglass. Mounted on studs that attach thru the side chrome to frame. Studs stick thru the bags and are secured with wire retaining clips. Not exactly quick release. There is a bumper thingy that rests against the shock.

The non-studded LL Bags are not listed as fitting the Rocket.
