I received youe email and sent pics also, same ones. I've been all over the bike, that's what I found, so gonna open it up and take a look. the TDU actually looked pretty good, I still puy the new one in.

got the pictures,
Before you go crazy taking her apart see if the large chips in the rear screen are magnetic or not. Usually there is a lot more when the bearing goes bad. Of course you might have caught it earlier then most. It would be nice if you had access to a scope so you could go up and look around before you take her apart.I bought the expensive one at harbor frieght it even takes picture and video. I think it was just under 250.00

If it is just the TDU bearing you can change it like Val did by just lifting up the rear frame. I would also cut open the oil filter for a look see.

Morning Warp, I just changed the TDU about a month, I thought that was the problem and had done ordered the kit and when I took it apart to change I found the bearings d seemed pretty good yet. So I know that crap didn't come from the TDU, I changed it anyway so I wouldn't have a future problem. I wish I would have pulled the screens then while I had it tore down. It doesn't really take long to get it ready to drop the engine but I'd rather be riding it and not working on it.

So if you changed it anyway and did not clean the screens that could be swarf from the machining process. Which is why I wanted to see if it was magnetic or not. Did you go with the sealed bearings both ends or did you remove the seal? When they did my update kit they put in sealed units so they did not have to worry about the engine oil lubricating the bearing.

They were sealed bearings that was on the new TDU got new casting also. I didn't chech the screens because the TDU bearings weren't coming apart but you wanted to see if the debris was steel or cast, right?

Well SH#% I didn't think to check for steel or aluminum I assumed it was steel. Fu$% Fu*% Fu@# fu##
