like some have said we see only the problem bikes on the forum but there are many many happy riders with no issues and they just ride instead of writing I am one of those with hardly any issues yet I have done many mods (thanks scott for your 20145 tune) and should get into some troubles but so far nothing of of the sort..

Well Patrick, you did drop your GPS in Germany, but can't blame bike can you? :)

I was scheduled to be back in San Diego by the 27th or 28th. Looks like that won't happen, even if it's a fairly quick fix.

I am frustrated, and I thank you guys for the kind words.

I love this bike, but I've had two previous warranty repair issues (ignition, fuel thing).

Both left me stranded. This is # 3.

I've had a lot of bikes; none have given me so many problems. I just don't know.

If it was a horse I'd think about shooting it!

(I'll take you up on the beer when I'm in Antioch, though!)

I shot my 08, figuratively speaking. I got rid of the POS.

I'm going to scour these threads and the Net for info on lemon laws pertainig to Triumph bikes.

I'd gladly accept another bike (one that works), but this is what I'm guessing: Triumph is well aware of the problems affecting these bikes but refuses to recall and replace/repair them, opting instead to wait for us to break down in the most inconvenient of situations, have us tow it to their shop, then they'll do the work as warranty (or out of warranty) work.

Bad business, but it saves them $$$.

Anyone successfully received a new bike or full repayment from Triumph per a lemon law?

Check your state lemon laws. In my case, Florida has lemon laws, but they don't cover motorcycles. That SUCKS if you ask me!

i have had only 2 problems with my 2 rockets on my 06 classic blown head gasket at bout 13000 miles and no problem till it got totaled
on my 08 r3t blown head gasket at bout 9500 miles and no more problems with over 35000 on it now :D

OK, boys, I'm back home after an 850-mile U Haul ride from beautiful Van Horn, TX.

Who cares to hear how it turned out?

Well, I spoke with Hellfire today (sorry for waking you up, brother!) and his prophetic words rang true.

I tried everything to get that beast started on my own. Fuses, ignition, battery terminals, sidestand switch, etc. Nuthin' doin'.

So, after a long (and very bumpy) ride across 4 states, I dropped it off at Rocket Motorcycles this morning.

And who can guess what happened?

Doh!

I guess it's a short of some kind, because the bike started right up.

Ah, this is killing me.

The jostling from the ride back to cali in the back of the truck likely jarred somehting back to life.

The dealer is going to diagnose the problem and hopefully track down the problem (likely a short).

That's exactly how old mine was and exactly what the symptoms were when the ignition switch failed me on the highway ... not that I'm guessing or anything, but it was July, Hot, rush hour and I was mad as hell. I shook the bike like an orphan in foster care (Politically incorrect analogy) and it restarted after an hour. A week in detention (dealership) and that was the end of it. I sure hope your real dealer can fix whatever is wrong.

K-Mart and U-Haul sucks ... that will make for a long trip home, sorry.

maybe go with the keyless ignition

Glad to hear your back safe and sound........and a short very well might be a warranty issue cause.....well....I doubt it was designed that way :D
Hopefully you'll get that "loving :p" feeling back!

mutt

The attached photo is part of a collection that I now have. 6 and counting...

The dealer in NJ removed the alarm when I broke down the first time. They suspected that was the issue and i was out the door--with the alarm in the saddlebags--30 minutes later.

Unfortunately, two days and 1,200 miles later, I was on the side of the road again, with the same symptoms.

My dealer in San Diego suspects that it's the same fault (a short somewhere in the system) causing the grief.

He has my R3T for the 30K mile service while he diagnoses the problem.

"Dont throw the Baby out with the bath water"....I also suspect it has to do with the alarm system...Good luck and keep us posted!!
