While on vacation in Scotland I decided to go native and ordered haggis, neeps and tatties. All I can say is thank god for Guinness as it took an awful lot to wash that meal down. Never again.

Being asked to leave and being kicked out are two different things, okay they are the same but I only have 65years left before I can go back.
Now steak pie, neeps(turnip)and tatties(potato) potatoe if you are a republican, that is a meal to die for wash it down with a few pints oh boy am I homesick now.

haggis, neeps & tatties

You're right it is to die for, I can't believe I survived it. That was the only time I prayed after the meal instead of before. I only ordered it because I thought the tatties might be something else...no such luck.

Doglanta,

As my porridge gobbling chum, Scot in Exile, has already informed you, I have these pipes fitted on my bike.

I switched from OEM 06 Classic pipes.

Installing them was fairly easy, just make sure each pipe is far enough from the rear tire.

Just done a 12 minute tune afterwards and I was good to go (currently have the undertank K&N air filter installed. I too have Tuneboy but other than plugging into the bike to get it registered with Wayne I haven't yet installed any tunes. I'm still on the original 06 classic tune and haven't encountered any problems)

As I get on well with my neighbors I kept the baffles insitu which results in a pleasant throaty roar that isn't obnoxiously loud. (94db with them in, 110db with them removed)

Please check out my photo album for pics of my bike with them installed

NB They are stainless steel and are prone to dis-coloration

At the time I was going to the UK every six weeks, so I ordered and paid for mine in the UK, direct from the supplier, Dave Platt dave.platt@ntlworld.com and stuffed them in my suitcase to get them to Michigan. So mine cost around $800 which beats the heck out of the $1284 NewR3 are asking for them (He also sells them on Ebay UK for GBP575 = $920 TRIUMPH ROCKET 3 ULTIMATE SOUND 3 INTO 2 EXHAUST on eBay (end time 18-Feb-10 13:35:09 GMT) )

I am hoping to make the RAA5 get together in Kentucky mid-May, maybe we can meet up there to compare.

Hope this helps

Tony

PS If you ever visit the "Kingdom of Fife" try and keep your speed above 30mph at all times or there's a good chance the local scally's will steal your wheels! The majority of "Wee Fifee's" leave school with two qualifications......car theft and burglary!

Shorty exhaust

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the reply. After seeing your bike and how the exhaust looks it makes me want to get them installed as soon as possible. Very nice bike. After reading what you wrote I think that after I install the exhaust I will use my Tuneboy to install the stock tune and maybe even try the TOR tune, and then see how it feels. This way I can be sure of exactly what tune the bike has rather than what the dealer told me they installed back in 2005. I also think that I will probably see about taking the bike over to Power-Tripp in Birmingham and letting him do a complete custom tune although I am not sure how quickly I can arrange that. Because of my work schedule it may take me a while to get over there which is why I appreciate your input on what you did.

Baffles- I plan on keeping them out. If I have to be awake at 5 AM then my neighborhood should also be awake at 5 AM in solidarity. Just kidding, I look forward to hearing the difference in sound.

It looks like I paid too much there's nothing I can do about it now. Oh well.

I doubt that I can make the Kentucky gathering. Due to some health issues I am not sure I can do the real long rides anymore. It sucks to get old.

As far as keeping the speed above 30mph in the Kingdom of Fife, why are distances measured in km and speed measured in mph instead of kmph over there? I always wondered about that.

Thanks again,
Ken

Because the mph signs were posted before we went metric and we are to cheap to change them plus if we did the yanks would be all confused.
In quite a few parts of the country the old road signs telling how long to the next or several towns are still all turned around this comes from the WW11 to confuse any Germans trying to capture our sheep.
