I am new to the TuneECU. I understand it and am not afraid of it. But that doesn't stop me from breaking stuff.

I was able to connect, download, and save the stock tune just like a couple other roadster issues. This was done yesterday.

I had the headlight fuse out, bike on charger, laptop on charger, cable connected, launched TuneECU today and was not able to find ECU. I cleaned the connections with mass airflow cleaner, let dry and tried again. Still nothing. Then I read about someone with a roadster that needed the headlight fuse in in order for the ECU to recover. I replaced the fuse and TuneECU said the ECU was recovered.

**This is where I sit currently the ECU is "recovered", but after I hit "OK", it tried to read the ECU and cannot find it. Then it asks to run recover ECU again. Well, I thought what the heck, lets do this a few times. I've done it about 10+ times and have the same results.

TuneECU also freezes and doesn't let me click occasionally.

Any ideas?

You probably need to 'talk' to Mitch .. the other young fella. Like they say if you need your new electronic gizmo set up , get a teenager to do it for you .. haha. Sure someone will come along and be able to assist you. But it ain't me , sorry.

This is annoying since I am the closest thing to a techy teenager on here. My day job involves troubleshooting workstations and networks. And I think I just verified I'm the youngest on this site at 31.

"ECU Recovery Done" Click OK... Red block blinks in the lower right corner "You're a stupid dummy head! Recover the ECU for the 20th time? (ECU is connected but not responding. Run Recovery?)" Click OK...

I had problems using the VERY LATEST FTDI drivers - Eventually I found an older one that worked better. Also I understand that some of the cheaper cables give problems. Mine came from a Volkswagen specialist in the UK - If in doubt contact Wayne Tripp - he sells cables that he knows work. http://www.power-tripp.com/

I am a techy-dinosaur - I hate PC's etc especially if it has Windows on. But it's a job.

Ok, this is odd, but I just loaded tripp's r3r Jardine 3KN map into tuneECU instead of the map I saved from the ECU. Recovered again and it took. I just loaded the new map and it took that too. That makes no **** sense at all.

I did everything by the book. It's when I decided to go against the book I was able to get it going. When the book doesn't work, change one thing each time you repeat until you have a different result. Even if it breaks more, it's now broken differently and there might be a fix for that.

12 minute tune is now going to start tomorrow morning instead of my expected 8pm. I'm sure my neighbors would appreciate me not idling my bike for a quarter hour near midnight.

Thanks for everyone's help. I'm sure if I didn't post this, I would have given up for the night.

Te cable is from Lonelec. It was he highest rated one one the sites I looked at. It wasn't the cable. In glad for that.

By the way, I'm going to the international Motorcycle show tomorrow here in phoenix. It should be a great time. Test ride some bike I shouldn't be allowed to ride in our awesome 70 degree F weather.

It's running on Windows - NOTHING WILL EVER MAKE SENSE.

Hey Vinkster is that a 2014 Roadster?

2010. Same as Leif's so I thought everything would work the same. I'm going to do the 12 minute tune once the baby wakes up this morning. The after that, I'm installing the dobeck AR+. Though I'm having a hard time getting the O2 sensor bung plug out of the Jardine pipes. I believe it needs a T55 socket, but I only have a T50 on me. A quick visit to the store should do the trick.

I would not worry about the 10 minute tune just reset the adaptives and go. it would not matter much because you are going to be altering the A/F with the dobeck unit. Make sure your O2 sensor is shut off on the tune. Remember all O2 sensors whether wide or narrow band degrade over time as well as might not be totally accurate whether Dobeck, Power commander, Weggo. or innovate they do degrade which will then alter readings down the line. Personally myself (not counting the Dobeck because you cannot save or download the the readings) I use the sensor alter the map and then take it out. this would be the same with the Auto tune unit.
Now speaking of Leif I have not heard from him since his bike mucked up during the SC install. Hopefully he got it sorted out.
