A Tribute to "Peterk" R.I.P Peter Kirwood

I know there is the "lucky" thread honoring Pete, but I thought Having a separate thread exclusively for Pete (of which the other thread was intended but turned into part a thread for Pete and a thread for banter) might be befitting.

I'm not much of a writer or poet but wanted to post some words of my sentiment and respect for a man I will not forget.

Thoughts and prayers to all who knew him and to all who had the pleasure of riding with him. Thoughts and prayers to all of his Family. Al

Had him on my mind during my whole ride into work this morning.

I guess I've been feeling my own mortality lately, and hearing of his passing really hit home.

And then today I read this poem..

Death Is Nothing At All
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.

Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before only better, infinitely happier and forever we will all be one together.

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no tears in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul that’s free?
Miss me a little...but not too long
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone,
It is all a part of the master’s plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sad of heart
Go to the friends we know,
And burry your sorrow in doing good deeds
Miss me...but let me go.

I didnt know Pete all that well , only had the opportunity to ride with him on two occasions and dropped by his place twice , so im finding it hard to understand why i have a real feeling of loss in the pit of my stomach since learning of his passing and ive worked out it's because i now regret not getting to know him better. My heartfelt sympathies go to his family and friends.

sorry to hear about this rocket captains passing. broken hearts and good memories, sad and good facts of life. life is precious, and too many people take life for granted, i am guilty of that.......... but not anymore!! scott
