Sorry guys, got busy with other projects. I messed up the crank in my KTM and had to put thousands of more dollars in that money pit. Got it all fixed and the new owner is picking it up in a week or so. Just added a Ducati 1198 to the garage. I'll be getting back to the R3 the next few weekends...
Agree, my K1200R has 5 more HP a lot less torque and weighs about 300lbs less and will smoke my R3 but not in top gear. I was gone before he could down shift three gears.
I'm not crazy about the R3 riding position. I'm thinking about really screwing it up with some rearsets and a low handle bar.
Coming home from work Monday I noticed two head lights closing some distance rather fast. I was running 70mph. I down shifted to 4th gear, and as the first bike slowed down and pulled along side me he look at me as I looked at him and I opened up 147 foot lbs of torque and 138hp on him and I...
Yep thats the one. I read all about shearing of oil and i'm sure most will say not to use automotive oil in a motorcycle. All my bikes are on a 6,000 mile oil change exept for the KTM race bike. I've had no failures except for the KTM race bike but they are prone to crankshaft problems. Mileage...
I use it in two of my BMW's and the Triumph and have had no issues. I've used it for 6,000 miles in the Triumph and one of my BMW's for about 19,000 miles. The other BMW has 40,000 miles on it and it's had 0W40 for the past 10,000 miles.
From the owners manual
"Although the engine stop switch
stops the engine, it does not turn
off all the electrical circuits and
may cause difficulty in restarting
the engine due to a discharged
battery. Ordinarily, only the
ignition switch should be used to
stop the engine."

Congrads on your new bike choice. Not to worry about switching back and forth between bikes. I have no problem going from the R3 beast and my supermoto that weighs only 260lbs. Your brain will adjust.
A few pictures from my last road trip with my brother. You really can't go wrong with a good sport tourer. You can do these speeds all day long or untill you go to jail.
If you have the $ get the second bike. I like my Rocket III but it doesn't do everything well. I like it stripped down so it's not good for long distances and it sucks in the rain and forget about cold weather. I have my BMW K1200GT for rain, cold, and 800 mile days. My GT has 40,000 miles and...
I've had a lot of different helmets and I like the Shoei Brand. I currently have two Shoei RF1000's and just picked up another for the wife. It's a great helmet and its been out for quite a while so you can find new left overs at great prices.
My dad use to say "if you have a $100 dollar head...
I used through body class 4 porcelain I special ordered from my local tile store. This is the tile they recommended due to the heavy load it would see daily. My concrete garage floor was in great shape, all I did was pressure wash it before starting the tile work. I used a thinset with Polymer...
Hijack away, I like pictures and we we all like seeing new and different ways to do things. If I was pouring a new garage floor I would make my bike lift flush with the floor.
update:
It looks like soaking the switch with WD40 has fixed the problem for now. After soaking all night when I rode the R3 to work this morning and left signals work as they should.
My problem affects left front and reat signals. My rear signals are LED's. I took the signal switch apart and cleaned it but left signals still inop. New switch is $101.00. I'm calling dealership tomorrow for appointment for replacement under warranty.
Riding home from work today I noticed my left turn signals stopped working. After dinner I did a little trouble shooting. It looks like the flasher is always hot with the igniton turned on. When you select turn signals it provides power from the flasher and then you have turn signals. I have...
