I have 2 questions. How much heat does the right leg get without the stock heat shields, and how much?

I love the look. Great job, TG.

Heat from pipes not an issue

From riding over the last week, my impression is that the pipes coming off the engine generate less heat than the OEM pipes did with the heat shield. However, Sam's pipes stick out a little futher from the side of the bike so you need to be aware of that and not let your right leg lay against the pipes. If haven't had a problem with that (didn't need to change my foot position or anything like that).

Sam actually addressed the heat issue in the pipe design. Each pipe has a smaller pipe that runs parallel (and is welded in place) that acts as a heat guard. These little pipes (which you can see in the pictures of my bike if you click on them) are much cooler than the bigger pipes themselves. Its a pretty simple design but it works well to prevent you from touching a hot pipe.

On a related notes, the exhaust cans run ridiculously cool . My son burned his ankle in a millisecond on the old OEM pipes I had . With Sam's pipes, they don't get very hot to begin with and they cool off literally in minutes. Big improvement for riders getting on or off the back of the bike (or walking next to the bike after you've just parked it).

Casey
