It's not a sport bike. It's a sporty bike. Sport bikes, to me, have clip on handle bars, aggressive seating positions, and sacrifice everything for the sake of performance in both handling and power.
Motorcycles comes in more than two styles (Sportbikes and Cruisers by your stated point of view)
Touring is what you do with whatever you happen to be riding.
I'd wager there are more bikes styled similar to the FJR that are used for touring than there are cruisers.
I love riding ALL bikes but the neutral seating position of bikes like the FJR lend themselves well for extended rides.
All of this is moot as it's entirely up to the rider as to what they prefer.
FJR is still faster once moving.
