Homemade bypass?

Anybody ever tried to make their own cat by-pass? I have access to a pipe bender and a wire welder. The price of that pipe seems a little excessive for what it is.

Then again, maybe I'm just a tight ass!

I have recently bought the Triumph bypass and have been thinking about taking it by a local shop and see how much they would want to copy a few. The only problem I could see is making sure the mounting bracket is to spec.

They would have to be pretty close to perfect specs, wouldn't they? Some aftermarket mufflers fit very tightly on the bypass... almost a press fit. Also if the angles were off even a little the mounting brackets wouldn't line up. But... some people are very good at fabricating things. As expensive as the cat bypass is it might be worth a try. I'm really kind of surprised an aftermarket company hasn't started making these, I'm sure they could come up with a better design, the Triumph one is a little twisted.

I would like too see Vance and Hines make an exhaust for this bike, I think the Jardines are nice but WAY over priced

Someone had asked Vance and Hines last year if they were going to make a system for the Rocket and their reply was "no, not at this time". You might want to email them and ask again, the more interest they see and the more Rockets sold... the more apt they will be to change their minds.

I will try and post pictures of the Staintune collector/bypass tomor. They emailed me pics before I went with them... It is a very neat Stainless job that works perfectly.

The staintune by pass is very well designed.
Much more than the Triumph one.
