Reliability

I was wondering since this is my 1st Triumph what the track record was with them. I have heard about oil leaks, loose cam chains etc. What has been your experience over the long haul?

I'm knocking on 30,000 miles door with no problems yet. It probably won't start tomorrow since I said that.

I've got 3000 on mine, I love it but wish it had cruise control.

Oil leaks? You are in the wrong forum. You need to join www.oldharleysareus.com .

Fast approaching 20000 miles since Feb this year. No issues.
There are some comfort issues I need to sort out, but it's not Triumph's fault. Just me.

There have been some growing pains, but I think Triumph has most of those ironed out. And one thing about Triumph they have consistently covered bikes long out of warranty for any known issues.

2008 R3T purchased June 08.

Issues within first 9 months:

- Blown headgasket
- Broken lifter shaft
- Tires recalled
- Gear position sensor recalled or service bulletin (not sure which)

The bike had less than 5000 miles when all of these things occurred. It has 8500 now and haven't had any further issues. Hopefully, it'll stay that way. I'll likely get rid of it by summer so I don't really care other than the inconvenience of having it in the shop.

Checking in at 27000+ miles and no issues with mine except the 5 rear tires. While a 2 a week cigar smoker - I don't knowingly smoke my rear tire.

06 RIII purchased new in March of 2006.
