I just don't get why anyone would want to hop on a beast like the R3T and go fast. But, that's okay. You go ahead and go for it. Me? I have better things to use Old Rosie for. Here are my steps for putting a big smile on my face, and a few of the wimmins too.

- Shine her up proper
- Ensure proper tire inflation
- Check her fluids
- Fire her up
- Don my helmet; ensure my golden locks aren't constrained and are able to fly in the wind
- Head to the closest gas station & fill Rosie to the brim
- Hop on the interstate and cruise at just the right speed to allow cars to pass, but fast enough that I don't get run over
- Stretch out my perfectly chiseled legs and arms
- Watch for wimmins cruising around me in the passing lane
- Give 'em a wink and watch the melt

Thanks for the assist, sounds like we need a K&N aircleaner, aftermarket pipes, a higher speed rated back tire and Tuneboy to raise the speed limiter to 130 MPH.
I think the Rocket 3 fits his rideing style (wildman) much better than the tour but he fell in love with the black R3T. I can see why, its a beautiful bike. We'll just have to work on unleashing some of that potential. I know not every one has a need for speed, its not some thing you can even explain to someone who doesnt have it. If it was just about going fast we would all be rideing Kawasaki 1400's, and Hayabusas. Not my taste though, I have a soft spot for baggers. But when its time to play just because we ride a bagger doesn't mean you have to get left behind. It just means you have some work to do. That was my only goal.

Oh, I get the need. I dust Honda Civics every once in awhile. I get froggy and hesitate for an extra second before shifting out of 2nd. Then, I realise I just burned an extra ounce of gas and abrubtly shift to 4th to bring the RPM back down to ensure that 40 mpg, give or take a couple.

If you are just looking to raise the speed limiter, the GiPro gear positon indicator will do that as well as remove the power reduction built into the 1st three gears. If you still want to mess with the MAP settings, adding a PCIII will allow for altering the fuel.

A Tuneboy will let you do all of the changes the GiPro and PCIII will do plus a couple others, minus the gear position display of course.

It all depends on what you want. (and what you spend)

I was under the impression it would be necessary to remap after installing free flowing pipes and aircleaner.

That's what the DynoJet PC-III or Tuneboy software is for.. If you do just Triumph's aftermarket mufflers, your dealer can install Triumph's map for that application. If you're going for a freer flowing exhaust system/intake system, you will need help from a PC-III or TuneBoy.

Thanks, Last time I changed pipes and intake I was rejetting. This is all new for me, Much better !
I'm guessing that Tuneboy will void engine warranty ???

Ive yet to see mention of the smaller throttle bodies on the R3T. You won't get the same performance as the Standard nor the Classic.

Triumph has a "silencer upgrade" kit for the R3T. It's a cat-box replacer. It was the first upgrade I did on my Classic; actually a Tourer (Classic with a bagger upgrade package). The increased oomph with the silencer upgrade was remarkable. It was an exuberant yee-haw.

Id question the rider's inclination versus the R3Ts inability to out run a Valk up to the speed limiter. The torque increase of the R3T at lower RPM was ineffectively applied; in my impression.

Speed and RPM limiters, as well as opening secondaries 100%, can be adjusted with the Tuneboy.
