What kind of mileage could I expect?

I am very close to making the purchase and was wondering what kind of mpg I should expect from my R3T? Real world, not what the mfg says. Also, regular or premium? I don't remember seeing anything regarding this.

I believe the manual calls for 89 octane. I've safely run 87 octane most of the time with no problem. I have 35,500 miles on my Rocket now. The Rocket has such a low compression ration that there's no problem with pinging due to low octane ratings.

I have a PC-III and TORs with cat by-pass. I average 35 MPG. Stock I was getting about 39 MPG. Not bad for a big motor.. All of the litre+ repli-racers get worse MPG. Most of my riding is open highway and country two laners at about 80 MPH. Of course, with all this power, you can't tool along at 80 MPH all the time..

Use regular, I get between 32-35mpg daily use and about 35-38mpg on highway long trips... If I stay south of Illinois then I get 38-42mpg because of less additives in fuel.

I have 17K miles on my 2006 R3 (not the tourer)
I'm getting 35 - 38 mpg depending on how hard I ride.

I get about 37-38 when touring 2-up (i.e. relatively light throttle and even speeds of 50 - 80 mph depending on highway or interstate)

I have no performance enhancements such as power commander, pipes, or other tweaks beyond stock.

I have never seen 40 mpg.

Regular or premium? I've never used less than medium (89 octane US ).
I've read that you can run the tank way down, put in a gallon of regular to see if it pings but I've never tried it.

I have an 89 Maxima (w/ 560K mi) that recommended premium but would run on regular because "the computer" adjusts everything so it would.
I don't know quite what this means in real terms.

I've had my R3T for just over a month. I'm getting around 37-38 mpg. I don't ride hard and/or fast. I ride under normal conditions and a mix of city/highway riding. My bike is completely stock.

The owner's manual calls for a minimum of 87 octane fuel.

On a Sunday cruise through the country two up I can get 40mpg. a little more spirited ride it's more like 37-38.. Two up with a trailer at hiway speeds it 35. I have 06 Classic, windscreen, and leather panniers, stock pipes with cat box removed. I do use mid- grade and somtimes preimum, I find I get less decel popping with higher octane, and I stay away from the discount stations. Here in Michigan they are usually 10% or more ethanol. My bike doesn't like that stuff. I try to stick with Shell, Marathon or BP....

That's the correct answer! If you're looking at a 2300cc bike, are you really interested in MPG? Honda makes a nice NightHawk 250 if MPG are a main consideration..

That's like asking what kind of gas mileage does a 426 Hemi Challenger get..
