Triumph Aux lights for R3 touring, parts missing

Just FYI,

I just got off the phone with Triumph. I made the mistake of not checking to make sure all the parts were in the box before installing my new light kit. (A9938085) It seems that Triumph left out the second wire harness for the light bar. According to them, this is a not the first time. I'm three hours into the project before I discover the wire is missing. Hopefully I will have it in a few days. The bike will have to sit and wait.

Always check the parts list...

I had exactly the same part missing from mine. I emailed MADSS, and Scott was told by Triumph that they didn't stock the wiring harness alone. So, he ordered another full kit, removed the missing harness, and returned the rest to Triumph. I considered that pretty decent customer service, especially considering the MADSS discount.

Mine was fine but another one I installed for a friend had the wire missing, so I made one up for him with different disconnects.

If you blow one of the bulbs and replace them with 55W from the 35W that it comes with, then you need to upgrade the wire harness all the way to the fuse and the relay, don't ask I just know...

Yikes, guess I'd better check my wiring. I replaced the bulbs before I even installed the lights with Nokya 70W Hyper Yellow lights. So far, I haven't had any issues, but maybe I should take a look.

Update on wire harness

According to Peter at Triumph in Atlanta, the Fed ex driver should deliver one in the morning.

Does anyone sell Triumph parts at a discount? I can't stand to pay retail...

Thanks

Good luck with the upgrade. Sorry to hear of the missing part.

I've found that the stock wattage bulbs, in the aux lights, are quite sufficient. Enough so that many on-coming drivers are flashing brights back at me. I like to give 'em a taste of what really bright lights are by switching to high beams. I run Sylvania Silverstars in the headlights. It's the difference between night and day, with the aux lights on as well.
I could adjust the aux lights lower, but then I wouldn't see the eyes of the giraffe grazing on the road sides. You can tell it in their eyes, whether they're thinking of bolting across in front of you

Check engine light on after installing lights

For those of you who follow instructions; The second to last step when installing the aux driving light kit is to turn on the ignition and test the lights. If you cycle the key while the cluster is unplugged, it will trip the check engine light. I thought I was going to have to take the bike to the dealer but according to Triumph, the light will automatically extinguish itself after three "full heat cycles", i.e. bringing the bike up to riding temperature on three separate occasions.

It would be nice if they would put this in the manual. I thought I left something undone spent another thirty minutes looking over the wiring.

My kit came missing the same wire... Dealer called and they already had the part# ready to order for him!!! I guess it's pretty common..
