I want to thank you for working the holiday and posting these pics Pig9r. I came from Athens in the freezing rain and snow to see the show and get some pictures and 1st impressions of the new tourer. As you can see it is Black and my new camera went with an old picture taker so even the anti shake didn't do so hot. Anyway I wanted to see what all the fuss was about and this is what comes as the basic model. A midsize quick release screen, different foot controls and floorboards, and of coarse the bags. With some restriction in the opening due to the latches but seemed secure in closing and appeared to be weather tight. A sticker on the speedometer said, "40MPG ". The rear fender was of interest to me as I wanted to see what it would look like without the bags. Retro and Rhunish come to mind. Anyway I saw wanted to see and it would seem to be a baggers dream come true.

Well I guess I don't need to post mine, I was at the same show that snow hit in Atlanta good didn't it?

I ran into RKT3 I think was his name there as well...

I tried to get the floorspoksperson to remove the baggage but he wasn't sure...

Demo truck is supposed to be coming in Febuary or March

http://www.northatlantatradecenter.com/cycle.html

NORTH GEORGIA TRIUMPH will be onsite all weekend with the TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLES AMERICA demo truck display - featuring the entire lineup of 2008 Triumph Motorcycles. This is the same rig that will be traveling nationwide this season and you will be able to preview the bikes which will be available at the NORTH GEORGIA TRIUMPH demo event coming up in March 2008.

hmm notice it said display, so no demo rides until March....

Thanks for the pics. Triumph was a no show at the DC show the weekend before.

A couple of comments:
  1. Triumph moved the ignition switch to a more logical location.
  2. The mounts under the bags look absolutely awful from the rear.
  3. Only 15 lbs per bags? My Leatherlykes are rated at 20lbs and are quick release.
  4. 5.3 gal is a whole lot less than the 6+ on the std Roc.
  5. Lack of a factory cruise control significantly detracts from making this a serious touring machine.
As a touring platform, the Roc has great potential. Smooth, powerful engine. Long
wheelbase, etc. I wish Triumph would go all out and fix a frame mounted fairing out front
and load it up with the requisite goodies (radio, cruise, etc.).

I still prefer the twin headlights. It's an interesting bike and I see they've incorporated the cats in each muffler....A sign of the times I guess. We are getting closer to a factory stamped exhaust and that's it. I like the ignition switch location but I don't like the bear claw and I especially don't like the price. I guess we'll see how many units are sold. The market is getting softer as the stock markets worldwide go in the can.

One thing I do notice is the absence of brakeline clamps and the hoses just hanging out there. My saddles would look nice on that bike too. Just a piece of masking tape, drill a hole and presto, clamps.

I really didn't like the single headlamp, and even less so with the screen removed...

it was slick how it came off though... BUT I keep saying it, Triumph didn't make this bike for us, they already sold us one...they made this bike for THEM, those that din't buy it the first time...

not for me no thanks... and even if I won one, I'd just sell it and buy hard bags for mine
