| | Pressing Cont. Rocket III Gas Tank Rocket III Air Box Cover (Bearclaw) Header Production: Most of header components are stainless steel. The components, cut and bent parts are fabricated by MIG welding. Finishing are vary from raw type, electro-polishing and chrome plating for the classic bike. Rocket III Headers Inspection Room: As limited space, we perform dimensional measurement, material analysis and welding inspection in the same room. In July 2002, we have started with the laboratory size 4.0m. x8.0m. By the end of Y2003, the inspection room was expanded to 8.0m. x8.0m. In November 2003, the new CMM was installed in the expanded room. The roller shutter door was installed to ease the handling of the heavy inspection item by fork-lift or hand lift truck. Inspection Room Triumph Thailand Inspection Processes: Dimensional Measurement: Generally our datum system consist of 3 perpendicular planes. In the same plane there might be the off-set position for datum location. Therefore, most of our dimensional inspection need to be measured by CMM. Besides dimensional measurement, we have to perform inspection to CAD file on casting, forging and pressing parts Previously, concerning 900x 1000x 600mm. measuring range of Mitutoyo Euro-C 9106, we have to divide one single measured part into 2 parts. The new CMM, Mitutoyo Beyond 122010 measuring range is 1200x 2000x 1000mm. It will cover the measurement of final frame and inspection fixture. Profile projector is measuring range is 245x152mm with 16 inch screen. Another bigger profile projector which still pending installation and calibration is sent from Triumph UK. Welding Inspection: We perform macro analysis of welding by Olympus microscope connected to computer for data storage. Material Inspection: There are 2 Rockwell hardness testers. Mitutoyo ATK F1000 have been purchase locally and Mitutoyo HR-521have been transferred from Triumph UK. Spectrometer Spectrolab JR.CCD is also sent from Triumph UK. Testing and Material Preparation: We also conduct finishing testing for chrome plating, powder painting and lacquer coating by salt spray testing Ascott S450tand cyclic humidity testing. In our material preparation room there are cutting and polishing machine for welding macro-analysis specimen preparation.
