I have done the same, found that it has rubbed off back to chrome in some places where my wife's jacket had rubbed against it. Hope yours holds up better.

Well they blasted it down to bare metal so hopefully that doesn't happen.

Had my backrest and rack powdercoated black for years .. Hoppa if you had yours powdercoated and it's "rubbed off" I'd be taking it to another powdercoater.
