Russell Day Long.....Ya Baby!!

You Dawg...lol - That's almost the seat I'll be getting as this winter as well. I'm waiting a little closer to spring before sending it off as we still have some decent riding days through December around here.

How does the rider's backrest attach?? Can you describe or post some pics, please?

^^^not a problem. When they re-built the pinion seat they added a metal Chanel into the front of the seat where you just simply slide the drivers backrest into the chanel. No tools or fasteners, slide in and out...... Talking about the backrest that is.... image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Great. I was hoping to be able to keep a backrest for solo riding since I like the look of the bike that way better but not a deal breaker. They might be able to do something else for me so I can???

Good day all, about a month ago I made the decision to go with the Russell Day Long saddle, all leather, as my next upgrade to my 2014 R3R. Even though I don't get to spend anytime in the saddle until next spring, I'll tell you this, this saddle is the money! As soon as I sat down I could feel a massive difference from stock.
I purchased the driver seat backrest which takes aproximatly 5 seconds to install and remove and it's completely adjustable. It folds down onto the drivers seat and after you swing your leg over you simply lift it up into position. I love this thing! I also had them add the pouch to the back of the seat of which I have to say is quite large, I was suprised at the size of the backrest and the pouch. I also paid to have the stock pillion backrest recovered. The pillion seat was also custom fitted to my wife.
Can't wait till spring!
Here a couple pics of the i boxing and installed.
Cheers

Thanks for all the pictures. Of course I want the best for my bike...but need to get my arms around paying for the best! ;) My wife and I live in Central California and are riding up to Russell this Thursday. Hope the weather holds. After you have had some time with the seat....would you do it again? Any suggestions? Would you have done anything different?

Thanks for any tips you can provide.

I have now put a complete season in this saddle, around 18000km. I love this seat, I love the backrest and the pouch. I would not have done anything different and I would spend the money again. Not cheap by any means and some don't like the look, I have received nothing but compliments.
Outstanding product!

Thanks for the reassurence. I am glad that is working out well for you. I have come to the conclusion that paying extra for the best has always treated me well.

Why else do we work and earn money. I paid a bunch of money for a bike that hurts my but after 2 hours. The money for the Russell is a small percentage of the cost of the bike. One can certainly piss there money away in a lot of worse ways. By the way, in my opinion..the Rocket is a big, macho tractor of a bike, so what's wrong with a big, tractor of a seat. Honestly, I think the stocker on my R3T is too subdued, I want some character to go with the bike. Good choice and looks good.

I will let you know how this go.
