Thought it'd be cool to have a thread where people could post motorcycle related pics of old relatives and a bit of a story about that person/people , i'll start with Uncle Ray
I never got the chance to meet uncle Ray he died early-mid 60's at the age of around 22 , he was one of my Dad's older brothers , he was Dad's Father figure as Charlie ( my Grand dad ) had died about 5 years after the end of WW2 due to injuries sustained while fighting , Leaving my Nan to raise 5 kids on her own.
Well Ray was heavy in the Bike scene in Tasmania and Dad was following close on his heels, Dad used to tell me stories about ( spelling ) Bodgies and Widgies of his era and how they used to get in big rummbles with other bike gangs.
Sadly Ray T boned a car that was being driven by a drunk driver , apparently he flew through the air some 30 metres and landed on his head helmetless , this was a week before his birthday and my Nan had bought him a helmet as compulsory helmet laws had recently been introduced , Ray died instantly doing what he loved the most.
Needless to say Dad was devastated and grew a dislike of bikes after that , when i was a kid growing up he always tried to deter me from being interested , didnt work as we used to hang out with Dad's younger brother who had a large collection of old Brit and Jap Iron and we used to ride them down the hill in Nans backyard ( back when yards were 1/4 acre )
Here's Ray washing his Trumphy , from what i remember Dad used to tell me it was a Tiger but i could be wrong so please correct me , apparently he had this thing tricked big time and it used to kick ass around Northern Tassie
