Big Fun

Hello all I just purchased a leftover 2007 Rocket iii I've already ticked off close to 600 miles. Enjoying the ride. Just 1 question..does the gas mileage increase after it breaks in ? it's a little bit piggy. I'm coming off a 1997YZF 1000 F(a great bike). But felt after 26 years it was time to slow down..Not! This baby's got balls and then some. Anyway looking forward to listening and learning from you guys. Keep the rubber side down

Welcome to the site. Mileage my improve after break in, but I never found out because that's when you really get to start wringing it out. If you are getting in the 30's mpgs you are about average.

More Smiles To The Gallon

Welcome Bklynmike. Am I correct in guessing you're either living in Brooklyn or from there?

As to gas mileage, my '05 has stayed constant at 26 in town and 35 on the road. Lots of other Captains have much better mileage but everytime I burn another HD type.... it makes it all worth while.

Welcome to the forum. Gas mileage is fluid. I've been as high as 39 and as low as 29 depending upon the hype afforded by a TuneBoy tune. Only most recently have I detuned to see a return to the upper 30s. Haven't refilled the first time since loading the latest 20227 Classic. I modified the decel values only (no-pop fix). It's quiet as a church mouse on steroids.

Nice to have another power addicted join the site. Had mine go up from 34 to 37 but I'm trying to save gas and my rear tire for the trip this fall to Ark. I only goose it in turns to use the sides of the tire and keep the wear even. Yea like that's gonna work. Welcome.

HeR3tic I have the 20227 tune but its the standard not the classic (have to tip the the guys out back) 40-42 ridin in a group (read limping along behind the Harleys) and turn the wick up on the Hiway at 37-38 (read: OK I'm tired or ridin in the noise and oil) I can really see no diference in the new idle problem tune at all. I took my trailer for it's maiden voyage last weekend and run a solid 35mpg.
