| | | Introduction Hi, I googled 20K and RocketIII and found this forum. Getting ready to journey for the 20K service (and it is a journey), I am. Have an '01 LegendTT, too, with just under 30K on it (journey #2). Only other bike I had was an '84 Sportster (1000cc) with a two and a half gallon gas tank or something ridiculous like that. Never liked that bike, though it did look pretty good at the time. Got to start somewhere I guess. Anyway, I LOVE my Rocket, and am hoping to pick up some useful knowledge here... would like to see how people have mounted their inspection/county stickers for one. Would you believe I'm still putting mine on the drive shaft cover. Can't be legal, but I've been thru several road blocks and no one has ever said anything. Of course, they're usually just gaping at the bike anyway. Also, has anyone tried one of the new Cromwells?

Ride on.

| | Welcome.. I put my inspection sticker just in front of the right rear shock (as you sit on the bike), on the black plastic trim piece that comes from the rear fender. I'll try and post a pic soon. Don't know if it's legal, but it's visible if you look, but out of the way as well. |

| | | Welcome GB.... Looks like you've already taken the Captain moniker by now. I know you'll find more information than you need to know but it's fun and informative at the same time.

| | hello green baron,
welcome to the forum. and yes, the drive shaft housing is actually a very good place to put a sticker.

| | | Welcome to the site greenbaron. As far as Cromwell helmets, haven't tried one. Are there any importers in the US?

| | | Welcome greenbaron to the forum.
Inspection/pass stickers affixed to the front forks is Fugly and getting them off is a major pain. Having it on the drive shaft is far less obtrusive. If you've been getting along with it there I'd say you're ahead of the game. I've fashioned a small thin metal bracket and affixed it to the lower fork mounting bolts, in the past. The recessed front axle pinch bolts on the Rocket would present a problem. Perhaps a caliper bolt? Or on the underside of the radiator shroud? It would depend on how much surface space were needed for the sticker(s). This might be a call for a custom Flippermeister accessory?
Chickens and Orchids you say? My wife deals with our orchids and I deal with our few Silver Laced Wyandots. Kale, Romaine, and Broccoli are coming in heavy right now, this is my first successful year with broccoli (marigolds interspersed amongst the broccoli seems to do great at keeping the moths and other pests off) and the asparagus is already played out. I put in another 50 asparagus crowns this Spring and they've taken off big time. The blueberries will be ready in a month and the peaches and plums in 45 days. I'll have so many scuppernongs this year I'll resort to wine making. I usually make jelly.
Again, welcome to the best Rocket III forum. |

| | pig9r,
no one is importing Cromwell. there was a rumor someone would a year or so ago, but no joy. guess it's the DOT thing. don't have a big problem with going thru http://www.designerhelmets.com/ , only thing is you know with the cost of shipping and uncertainty about sizing... $$ouch$$ but I think it's just about the coolest line of helmets I've seen... thus I was wondering if anyone here had one...
her3tic,
well, it's been working i guess, but each year the situation with the county sticker gets worse, because there's not enough of a flat surface there to accomodate it and it's getting krinkly on one edge. hard to get your hands in there too, which i'd like to do to clean the old ones off and start anew... which is a topic for a whole 'nuther thread (btw, wrt the mighty chicken, i do dominiques, another heritage breed to your silver laced wyno's)
thanks everyone for the welcome... think we jumped from a cold spring directly to summer here, so i'm out to enjoy some more of it...

| | | Nice to have you here greenbaron. I made a plaque out of stainless that I used to put the base sticker on. I had engine enhancement bars with a helmet lock on the top of the bar I put the plaque on to go in and took it off when I left. A permanent arrangement might be something done with a caliper bolt plaque. Welcome | | |
