Can U preload a PC III ?

I just got my new PC III and I was wondering if you can install the map for your bike before you install the unit on your bike. What makes me ask is I read that you can install a 9 volt battery rather than turn the ignition switch on.
Also, where is the correct place to put the rod to hold your gas tank up at?

prop wand is just under the right side of the tank.
If you start to lift it up a little, you'll see it there.
I've never had much luck with the PC 3.
I figure thats because I don't understand it very well.
I downloaded the closest tune I could find on their site.
Put it in the PC 3.
Took the bike to the dynotuner and he ran a dyno on it.
It didn't seem to help any so I pulled it off.
I'd really like a tutorial on the uses of and the aspects of the PC 3.
I know its suppose to be able to "richen" the A/F mixture,
or "lean" it out, whichever you may need.
But if you download the "right" tune from the website and load it into the PC 3,
then why would you need to richen or lean it with the 3 buttons?
Anybody with knowledge or experience know?
How about just a smart assed answer?
I'm curious, if I need it, I'd like to understand it.
Thats why I haven't got a tuneboy,
I'm afraid its beyond my paygrade of understanding.

You should be able to talk to the PCIII and download a map through a USB cable. What is your model, intake, and exhaust setup? What PCIII map are you putting in?

Make sure you have the PCIII O2 sensor controller plugged in.

I loaded the PC 3 map for Jardiens, which I have, and the bike ran well. After I got it on the Dyno I saw that it was close but not spot on. The bike is just great now as the dyno guy tweaked the PC 3 here and there. Every bike is different is what he said.

It's easy as pie T. Just go to their website, pick out and download a tune and use the 9v to power it while downloading the tune right from your desk top. There is a D&D tune with secondaries and triples that works fine for any aftermarket exhaust. Otherwise just look for what matchs your set up the best.

Thats what I thought it sounded like to me. Was that you can power up the PCIII with the 9 volt battery and plug into your computer and load the map that you are wanting and then install the PCIII.
The CD that came with it has a map for my set up of Jardines and factory air filter. I am going to play with it and see if I can down load this map and then install it and take her for a run seeing how its about 50 degrees. It should make for a brisk ride, say at 125 mph or so

If you decide to take out the secondaries and put on the triples, the D&D tune will work fine. It was the tune I was running with TOR's, triples and secondaries removed when they did they dyno tune. There were only minor changes made for the custom tune vs what was already loaded, so other than peace of mind ... the dyno really wasn't necessary. The tech said the tune it was already running would have worked just fine but he went ahead a tweeked it a little.

Ok, its official. I really like this bike. I hooked up the PC to my laptop setting in my chair. powered it up with the 9v battery, started the program, found my map for the Jardines, hit send map. It showed map sent and that was it. I went to the garage and installed it and I just got back from my test ride.
I know that its really hard to feel the difference but "WOW". The Raptor is now breaking lose and it seems to me that it is whinding a lot faster than before. Watching the tach seems to be hitting 6500 quicker. So the bike is either breaking the tire lose or its gettin with the program and sending me down the road alot faster than before without the PCIII. And there is "no more popping" on decel like before. I read on here before, about a guy that was cussing his Raptor for not hooking up when he was trying to put some rice burner in his place. So if it becomes an issue, I will start looking around for a different tire. But until then I think I will be really enjoying this British bike they call the Rocket III.
The only thing I am not pleased with is that I cannot remove the top speed limiter. I have the GIPro ATRE but 125 is it on the top side. I talked to the Triumph mechanic and he said he has a ECM off a 05 standard that we might try to swap out with this my Classic ECM and see if that will allow the bike to see that 140 or so. Will let you guys know.

T, I still think that stock filter location along with the faring is keeping enough air from getting in over 120mph. You said you didn't think you wanted triples in order to keep the cruiser look ... the K&N's fit under the claw and are totally hidden. When I said I was pegging the speedo, I was still running the triples under the stock bear claw. I think you should go ahead and pull out the secondaries and slap on the triples now that you have a PCIII. It's just a matter of loading another tune and a few bucks for the filters ... what have you got to lose?

By the way ... which setting did you decide to go with on the GiPro? I was running setting 3 (hard w/TRE active in 1-5 gears), but went to 4 (hard w/TRE active in 2-5 gears) when it got cold outside. The cool temps were making the rubber hard and the tire was spinning too easily. I am curious to know what people decide works best for them once everyone gets a chance to play with it awhile. I have a feeling that some guys will just go to the highest setting number (4) because it seems like it's the most performance (due to the highest number displayed), not realizing that setting 4 cuts power in 1st gear. Don't know why they made it that way but setting 3 is actually the one that has the most punch in 1st gear.

Just in case ... the (-) setting disables ATRE function as well as enables the speed limiter again.

Hellfire, I forgot to mention that I did remove the secondaries back when I put the GIPro on. I run mine on 3 also and like you said I may go to 4 now because of tire spin also.
I just thought of something. I wonder if by disconnecting the power to the GIPro if it returns to the basic setting. I will check it out and let you know. I just went out and checked it and it does return to setting #1 if the power has been disconnected. So what I was seeing today was without the GIPro. I reset it to the #3 setting. Now I can't wait until tomorrow to try it again.
I wonder how much you could expect to pick up by going to the triples? I had thought about running the triples under the bear claw and still might.
As for not being able to run faster than 125. I brought it up to 125 in 4th and was pulling hard at about 6500 rpm. But as soon as I hit 5th, it starts running into a govenor and won't run any faster. I have heard that the Classics have been electronicly governed on the top end but I don't know that for a fact. All I know is 125 is tops for my bike and maybe by going with a 05 Standard's ECM, I can do away with this restriction.
