Yep! "Lucas" has me bugged too. Back when I owned the 650 Tiger, I trashed everything made by Lucas (except for the mag). Went with a CDI and Honda 160 coil. No more zener diode problems or coil failures. Cranked first kick almost every time.

Had the same issue and it was a bad connection to the battery. Hopefully I won't run into anything beyond that with my )%.

There are 6 or 7 wires on the backside of the ignition switch. Different ones have broken the solder weld for different folks. Depending on which one is broken and whether it is now contacting another weld will determine the symptoms.

I think I have the same issue .Ihave found that rocking the bike back and forth in 3rd or 4th usally gets it to start. I do get a ''clicking'' sound like when a bad solinoid is present.L ast year 800 bucks spent trying to fix with a new starter. very frustrating problem.this year a new gear position switch was thrown into the mix with no luck. I t seems to only happen when other people want to hear the new ehhaust and are watching me.does this sound familiar to anyone

Henry

I can't remember if I have had any problems since I had the ignition switch replaced last year. However, I can remember doing the same thing as you with respect to rocking the bike with it in gear to slightly move the crank. Seemed to work when all else failed. No problems recently though. Sorry I can't be more help.

Had the same problem - intermittant and for several months. The needles swept across, the lights were on and the starter relay clicked - starter wouldn't turn.

Two new batteries and wiring checked - problem still occured. Swapped the starter relay - problem solved £7/$10 fix. Opened the old relay - no corrosion but meter showed it was only working intermittantly although it was clicking. Thought I'd let you know of a possible cheap option before you spend any big money.

When my switch was acting up prior to replacement, getting pissed and yanking the steering back and forth in anger would make mine start. Bizzaro I know.
