Great input guys my main concern was cornering. I found a pretty good video of a guy sport riding darkside on a R3. I'm not worried anymore.

Lester,

I can honestly say I see no difference in cornering at all with the CT. To me it seems to actually grip a little more.

Exactly! There is a learning curve, as said further below:

Absolutely! A thousand miles minimum.
The contact patch is on the order of 300% or more than stock. Crowned and banking straightaways require a presence of mind. However, finding the sweat spot only takes a moment of fully aware status. The degree of increased confidence in not breaking traction and the ability to put all that power into motion is ultra magnified with all that ground patch. And at a small fraction of the cost that dogma will lead you.
Economics lead me, primarily, to the darkside but tha grins are never ending after you've been here for awhile. Now if you're repeatedly carving corners daily it's not for you!. A captain in Colorado has returned to the light. And apparently Blob is going to finalize his decision on a trip around the block It's not for everyone.

There's at least one darkside Captain that's running a 205.

Lester:
I'm having the local Triumph Dealer mount a Toyo Proxes 235/50 this week. I based my size decision on this comparison, taken from this site:

Tire size calculator

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
240/50-16 4.7in 12.7in 25.4in 79.9in 792 0.0%

235/50-16 4.6in 12.6in 25.3in 79.3in 799 -0.8%

225/50-16 4.4in 12.4in 24.9in 78.1in 811 -2.3%

225/55-16 4.9in 12.9in 25.7in 80.9in 783 1.2%

245/55-16 5.3in 13.3in 26.6in 83.6in 758 4.6%

sorry about the formatting alignment...

You might double check the width, with a 225/50 I have about a 1/2" clearance between the tire and the driveshaft. your getting close. YOUR DEALER WILL MOUNT THE DARKSIDE Hats off to your dealer. or you better check to makle sure, most bail out by sayin it a liabilaty issue.

Gunshots--
Are you saying the 235 will have less clearance than a 225?

I gave the dealer a letter of liability release...

Roger that- 10mm wider = 5mm on each side thats about 1/4". all puns aside they are round figures and what works out on a caculator doesn't exactly mean thats what you get. I measured my "Mounted and inflated" 225/50 at 79" the worn (no wear bars yet) metz at 80" before I removed it.
I just went out and measured (it's not an easy place to measure) but I took a 3/8" breaker bar and I could just squeeze it in between the tire and the driveshaft. (the 3/8" end). the actual clearance depends on the profile of your tire. My Goodyear has what the call a rim protector so a portion of the tire sticks out from the bead area. This may make mine a little wider overall. I haven't paid that close attention and am not sure if any other Captains have tried your tire. The other side is I may just smoke a while and then things will be OK.. Keep us posted
Best of Luck
