New Avon Tires

I see in the new J&P Metric catalog that they are selling the new Avon AV72 Corbra rear tire for the Rocket for around $277. Americanmototire.com is selling them for $231.14, but are on backorder/out of stock. Anyone out there ordered a set yet? Bigern

Haven't ordered a set yet, but MotoXOutlet.com has the Avon Cobra in 240/50VR16 for $206.99 and the 150/80VR17 for $146.99

I haven't contacted them about stock yet. I'll probably go with a Metzler rear one more time since my front tire is still good for many more miles.

Another seller: http://sporttour.com/tires/avon_cobra_radial.htm

Mine should be in mid-May. $226 shipped.

Trying Avon after wearing out two Metzlers. I hope to get more than 4K miles on it.

Whan do you do to your tires. I have 6100 and still have tire left, not even to wear indicators. I'm hoping to get at leat 8000 out of my Metz.

I get pretty good miles out of the Metzlers. I was going to try and get them swapped before New Ulm, but that's not going to happen and I feel they've still got enough tread on them for the rest of the month or so. I'm hoping the Avons will be readily available by then.. Just to try something different.

I've done pretty good with the rear Metz. My first rear tire was gone, down to the cords, at about 8,000 miles. My second one lasted 12,000 miles and could have went a little more, but I was going to Sturgis and needed a new tire. My third one has about 8,000 miles on it now and is looking thin, but still has some wear left, so I'll probably get close to 10,000 on it before it gets changed.

Most of my riding, including to and from work, is constant riding with very few stops.

You don't have to do a burnout. Everytime you accel. hard from a stop you are leaving rubber on the road.

LOTS OF RUBBER. still worth it in my book. if the avons last as long but are cheaper i might run them. thats if they stick as good as the mets i like the cornering stability that they provide.

The Avon Cobra has what looks like an agressive tread. It may only be cosmetic. I'll know soon enough.
