How I fixed my High Idle and low speed stumble issue.

This is a little tweek that fixed the high idle issue and low speed stumble my R3 was having which is similar to many of you guys on here.

I noticed when hooked up to Tune Boy on the tach screen that the tps was reading .07.
So even with out loosening the screws I turned the tps counter clockwise by hand to to read .00.
The reading at the dealer is set at .60 but my bike is at .58.
Now the bike has almost no popping on decel, never idles fast, and smooth acceleration.
Try it out.

Did you try the reset ISCV feature in Tuneboy?

If there is a reset option of any sort in tuneboy, I have exhausted it many times. the ICSV, TPS, etc. It would sometimes help a little bit for a short time, but it never held like this fix has. I would reset everything, download a new known good tune, do the 12min tune first thing in the morning, and it would work for about a mile then be back to running like crap. Now after just turning this sensor with a little hand preasure it has ran fantastic for the last 2 months. If you have a popping on Decel issue this alone fixes that too.

With the rest ISCV, you click it and the TPS reading goes real time. You then adjust it to the .06 reading. The you click it again and it cycles the sensor. Once you click reset ISCV instruction scroll across the bottom of the screen. It just makes adjusting the TPS easier because you don't have to wait for the voltage reading to update. I think the manual says it should be within + - .05?

Did that about 20 times over a 3 month period.
The bike would run ok once in a while, other times I would gas it down the drive way alittle and wow a 2000 rpm idle does not slow down.
Grab the clutch and brake.

After the dealer performed the recall, all was well for about 200 miles. Then it started the high idle crap. I loaded an older tune several months ago when I had the same high idle problem. So I did the same thing. Loaded the the 20138 tune back in. Used tuneboy to open up the secondaries and idle RPM to 850. Perfect for 2,500 miles. Glad I didn't lose it on my laptop. I don't know what it is, but somenting is screwy with that 20222 tune when it's loaded in my ECU.

the recall based tunes did fix the low idle issue. The bike would be set at 850 in tuneboy, but the tune would cause it to bairly run most of the time. The newer tunes based off of the recall worked great but the high idle remained no matter what version of the new tune you used or whatever idle setting you set it to. (Including the reset ICSV and doing a 12min tune with the O2 Sensor on)

Once we messed with this tweek everything has been supreme. I loosened it off just a tad so I could rotate it a little bit easier and I noticed how if you turn it to far one way or the other, it makes voltage and causes the bike to run rich with a false setting. There is a little sweet spot that, once reached, makes the bike run like new. It is truely amazing since i was almost thinking of selling the bike since the dealership couldnt fix the problem and nothing I tried was working untill I got a hunch to watch it in realtime on tuneboy (at the tach screen). Since it was sending a .07 signal instead of .00 i thought what the heck and gave it a push. Go figure.
