| | Well they just had another sprocket split in three pieces on an 07 over at com.So I guess that shoots down my theory about not being tight enought.Wait mabey not.It could start moving around and bind then split..Hmmmm Jack |

| | | Very interesting.... I like your paper towels.....Bounty or Scott? That's a specialty key, not anything listed in Machinery's Handbook. I also see that there is plenty of 262 or 271 Threadlocker on the hex cap which probably explains why it was so stubborn to remove. 62 or 71 require a pre-heat of the fastener to ease removal and I suspect it's probably 271. The 71 spec is pre-heat to 300 degrees and/or impact removal. I'll have to retract the wise ass remark about the air tool being screwed shut. It was most likely 20Nm but after the threadlocker crystallizes, it's balls to the wall to get 'er off.
Little design differences can make a huge difference in the end result. Just like the KLR 650's. Kawasaki gets the piston/ring assemblies from 2 different suppliers. One of the suppliers' assemblies consistently burns oil at high rpm and the other don't. Same specs, different suppliers. You buy the bike and take a chance. Kawasaki stands behind the engine and will rebuild the top end if it burns oil so Triumph seems no different.
I know you are very conscientious Jack, but did you check the chain to make sure it wasn't wearing uneven and there are no binding links?
Least you have peace of mind at this point and you've communed with Spike.

| | Yea Flip,I used my hobby magnifires and the chain barley even had contact marks. The manual has a very good ck. list for checking the chain. I just can't figure why 07s are comming apart. They should know by now which suppliers are at fault..They should have made that sprocket out of hockey puck rubber. Jack |

Interesting you mention hockey puck. Everytime I envision a puck I see (in my minds eye) Goofy at the hockey game eating a hot dog and a player hitting the puck and it knocks Goofy's hot dog and bun away and the puck replaces the hot dog and Goofy takes a bite of it. I know, I have cabin fever.

| | | Check a lowere bearing [ have the tech check a lower bearing that may have been put on wrong at the factory on one side it provides for oil and if put in wrong . reversed, then it prevents oil from getting in.. |

Hey, now... I'm one of those 'gummit' employees!
This is a bit disturbing, as I have that paint-can rattle in my '07 R3C tourer. Think I'm gonna hit up Big Twin Cycles the moment I get back home, and have 'em give it a once over. And get documentation of it so if something does happen, a quick call to them, or in the worst case, the BBB, will get it done again.
I have confidence in those guys, though. The owner of Big Twin is retired military. He hooks us grunts up!

| | | Warranty I hope my 2007 Rocket Classic Tourer remains well and stays that way. Having had prior experience, my 1997 Speed Triple had to have the entire frame replaced. Apparently there where some fatalities with the front end broken off in the neck area. These where usually accidents in the UK with the riders, leaving the pub and rear ending stopped buses at around 200 KPH.

| | | Ridin' Great, so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey all, just wanted to touch base and let you all know how things are going. I have put about 1000 miles on so far. When I picked up the bike last fall, my gas mileage was about 25/gallon. Not great, but that is how the bike was when I picked it up new. As the bike is putting miles on, my mileage has gone up to almost 40mpg. It is running great and I am still damn happy that I own the bike. You always, in the back of your mind, think about the failure, however, it is still the best bike to ride, too date............
Was on a 500 mile day last Saturday, in La Crosse, WI, and was surrounded by 3 sport bikes. They were circling around me like fire flies. After watching for a couple of circles, I decided to give it hell. I pulled away and they about crapped their pants.. ...after that, they rode behind me for a while then pulled up next to me and were wanting to know what I had, I just smiled, kept riding and pulled away. It is truly a rocket...................
Heading down to New Orleans 2nd week of August, any rockets down there??????? We all should hook up and do a Rocket Ride.....let me know if there is an interest
Regards.....
