Arrow Photo Questions

I've recieved a few questions about posting photos, both uploading into our photo album and then transferring them over to the thread you are working on. The problem is that different browsers operate differently but I'll try and explain it so that you might be able to adapt it to the browser you are using. Some of you may be scatching your heads and asking "What's a broswer?" A browser is the computer program you use to surf the net. The most common is Internet Explorer (IE). I use Firefox. Some people have AOL (You poor sods). I also have SBC/AT&T which is a mutated form of IE. There are a lot of different ones out there and I am not familiar with every one of them, so if you are having a particular problem you might post it here and maybe someone who is using the same browser might have an answer for you.

Photo album.

The first step is that you must have a photo that is on the internet already. If you are going to post it here it really needs to be put into a photo album somwhere. If it is motorcycle related or at least related to you as a member of R3Owners.net you may use our own photo album. It is very easy to upload pics into and is really self explanatory. One question that has been asked is that if a very large pic file has been uploaded the album says that the upload is successful, but there is no pic, it has dissappeared. It appears that the photo size was too large, it needs to be less than 500 kb. You can downsize the pic and try it again and it should go. You can use something like this to resize your photos..

http://www.resize2mail.com/index.php

Or Google around and find a resizer you like.

For other photos you can set up a photo album of your own at places like Putfile or possibly your browser may include an album for you as part of its package. Yahoo will also host photos for you. There are tons of places that will host photos for free.. once again just Google around and find one you like.

Moving Photos.

Now you want to move the picture out of the photo album into the thread you are working on. Keep in mind that the size of the photo you select will be the size of the photo that will end up in the thread. If you choose a thumbnail it will end up being very small in your post. If you go to our photo album you will find that most of our pics have three sizes, the thumbnail, if you click on that it will enlarge to a medium size, and if you click on that you will get a huge photo. The medium size is the best to move, the thumbnail is too small and the huge one will screw up the page size so that readers will have to scroll across when they view the post. That is irritating. Readers can go to our photo album and enlarge it there if they want to see more detail.

So... you pick out a photo you want and click on it once to enlarge it to the medium size. Now, "right click" on it. That means to put your curser on the photo and push the right button on your mouse, not the left one you always use. This will bring up a menu. Hopefully, somewhere in that menu there will be a choice for "Properties". Left click (Normal Click) on that and it will bring up a window that says something like "Element Poperties". In that window find "Image Proberties: Location" This is the URL for that picture in the photo album. You want to highlight the URL and copy it.

If you don't know how to highlight and copy... here goes. Put your curser on the very first letter of the URL which is going to be" http://......" Right click on the first letter and hold the right button down and as you do this drag your curser from left to right across the entire URL. It will turn blue if you do this correctly. At the end of the URL let up on the right button and the URL will stay "Highlighted". Now... put your curser back on the highlighted URL and left click on it. A menu will come up and select copy. You will have stored the URL and it will look something like this:

Now... As you are working in your "PostBox" while you are working on your new thread, if you look at the buttons or controls for the post box you will see what looks like a little yellow postcard with a stamp on it. Click on that and a prompt will come up. Left click on the "field" and a menu will pop up and select "Paste". This will insert the URL you copied in the field. Click on "OK" and now your photo is in the thread..

If the photo shows up in your preview it will show up in your post. If for some reason this doesn't work for you, you have a different kind of browser and we will have to find someone who has the same thing and knows how to use it to post pics..

I really do hope this helps. We all like pics. It seems complicated but print this off and work with it and practice and after a bit you'll be a pro at it.

Tomo

Paul:

Another execution of an R3. It befuddles me why anyone in their right mind (that's the key...right mind) would remove the shaft drive unit, replace it with a right angle gearbox and then add a chain, especially a chain that long and droopy. Must be the Orange County Idiots syndrome. No comment on the vertical twin.

Looks is all

I have no Idea why any on in there right mind (there’s that phrase again) would want there leg next an exposed chain like that. Imagine if it let loose and grabbed you leg. Then again maybe I don’t want to imagine it. Some of these set ups are plan stupid, and how they pass inspection I don’t know.
You have to have a mirror but hey don’t worry about that exposed chain.
Oh well they are nice to look at but I don’t want one. Hell if the chain didn’t get me the rough ride would paralyze me.
