Am I going nuts?

This is what I got so far on my air vents on each side of my radiator.
They're not finished yet and when they are I'll paint them black.
What do you guys think so far? Am I loosing it?

What is the eventual goal of the vents?

my idea for the vets is just for looks, and to make the radiator appear smaller and not so plain and flat looking a more aggresive look
