What kinda of jacket are any of you captains wearing that you would reccomend that is versatile enough to go from say upper 30's to lower 80's? Thanks.

I am currently using the Triumph Integra jacket. Currently I have tn in the "Rain cover" configuration which serves basically also as a windbreaker, pretty comfortable in the upper 20's and 30's (middle 30's/low 40's last night and tonight). When it gets warmer I unzip the rain cover, fold it into it's zippered pouch in the lower back of the jacket and it is now a red jacket with black mesh insets for flow thru air flow. Has two outer zippered pockets (in this configuration, not readily accessible with rain cover zippered on) and two inner zippered pockets in both configurations, very comfortable during my Bike Week and Key West trip.
The first two photos are with the rain cover zippered over the jacket, the second two are with the rain cover unzipped and removed to show the flow thru mesh view of the jacket front and back. The jacket lists for $199.99 but I think I got it for around $161.99 at my dealer.

Leather is good from 20 to 105, and maybe across a wider range. I didn't know the beef that wore it previously How did Chewbacca get in there?

On cold days I will wear the triumph heavy leather riding jacket. It has a nice removable liner for when the day heats up. It also features elbow and shoulder armour within it. It has a pocket in the entire back for armour, but I have never bought any for there. This jacket is very heavy, and I think it offers very much protection.
On warmer days I will start off with my (shift) brand, dyer hybrid leather and textile combo. It also has nice armour in the elbows and shoulders, but allows more air movement through the fabric areas. Both jackets have zippers in the arms and along both sides in the back that open up for additional air movement. I really like them both. I wear the Retro Paddock Jacket by Triumph, it is water repelleant Cordura with a zipp out quilted liner. When the cold weather liner is out it has a mesh liner and it also has 3 ventilation panels. (1) on each arm and (1) on the back. It also hs removaable armer in the elbos and shoulders. It stops the wind nicely and is warm in the winter (I wear a flannel or flease under it) in the summer I remove the linner and unzip the panels and am good to go in the summer. If I can wear it in a TX summer you can wear it up North in the summer

I can wear it with a T-shirt in 50's and be warm. If the mornings are going to be cool and days hot I wear a light long sleave over a "T" with no liner in the morning.

Up north you break out the "T's" when it hits the 50's and shorts at 60.

I have a First Gear Kilimanjaro II jacket. It has been a great jacket and very veristile too. I have worn it in temps from below 30F to 118F. It has a fleece liner that can be worn seperately as a jacket when not riding. The outer jacket is waterproof and have way to much first-hand experience testing that feature. I think the current offering is called the Kilimanjaro IV but it is almost identical to the one I have.

FYI, during REALLY hot weather I wear a soaking wet long sleeved t-shirt under the jacket (no liner) with the vents open. That has been good for about 2 hours of "air conditioned" riding until the next stop when the t-shirt gets soaked again.

I have the Integra jacket like MM and love it, However the zipper area in the front has no waterproof cover. In extreem soakers it will soak through the 3" area or on your chest. When you take the jacket off it looks like you drool !! Other than that its a great idea... Leather is good but my all time favorite for all around is a 5 year old Hondaline "Goldwing" nylon jacket. I get harassed about wearing a Goldwing coat, but I just tell everyone that Honda should have stopped at making coats, they are far superior to their bikes. The jacket has a zip in lining, the shell is water replent (when it was new), 3M reflectorized piping, wind proof and velcro on the sleeves. and at just over $100 bucks its a steal. Its also very compact when its too hot for a jacket. Two jackets stuff into a saddlebag , no problem. Hmmmm. Mayby a Triumph patch big enough to cover the Honda logo would work....
