Here's the info on exactly which early R3s require the spacer for the BST CF wheels:

Hope you are all keeping well and that you are having a good week. Hope that all of you are enjoying your wheels. I have some information with regards to the front wheels. I know that a lot of you have been having some problems with fitting the wheels to your bike. Please can I ask that you have a look at the following information and let me know as soon as possible if you will require the spacer that we will be making.

Our current front wheel design ( the front wheel that we sent to you) will fit bikes with a VIN number after 218248. Those with a VIN number before that will need the spacer. You will be able to check your configuration by measuring the front shaft and comparing it to the information below. This information was sent to us from a Triumph Dealer in the UK.

The differences are as follows, all the Rocket III' s with Vin numbers after 218248 have the short stepped type axle (step measures 54 in length) and the ones before this vin have the long stepped type axle (step measures 78,6 in length).

Please can you let me know at your earliest convenience if you will require the spacer. If you do require the spacer I will send you the information as to how to remove the old spacer and how to install the new spacer.
