I bought my bike with 10,000 on it and now theres 16,000 I had installed the Jardine exhaust and the K&N fitlters with tune boy .
When I got it back I was driveing it in the city and seemed to be good I brought it on the HWY and let it go and the clutch went I drove to the dealership and by then it was so bad I could hardly pull away from the lights .
So I left it with them and they pulled it apart and said that it was slipping for a while and I didn't even notice
Any how I bought a Barnett clutch and a new braided Barnett cable clutch because I wanted it to match my brake side.
Anyhow they phone me up and said that I can't pick it up because they notice when there pulling in the clutch that metal down at the bottom attatched to the engine where the clutch cable goes through there saying when there pulling in the clutch that its binding and that it will soon break and they will make in stronger some how no charge.
All you guys that have put the Barnett clutch in your Rocket do you notice the same problem? Thanks

Got me on this one..I have a new Barnett clutch in at my dealer's waiting for me to get my Rocket there and I've never heard of this phenomenon...As long as they have the inner workings properly assembled I don't see how the clutch actuation lever would suddenly bind....

Not that I have any specific knowledge, I am just typing to type, I know that there have been some redesigns of the clutch mechanism by Triumph, so I wonder if Barnett needed to make and changes? Or if the heavier clutch springs from Barnett were causing it to bind?

I have been thinking about going with the Barnett when the time comes so I'm curious to see what results you have.

The problem with heavier springs is the wear they cause on the lifter shaft where it rides on the lifter piece. There is no bearing action there, just one piece of metal rubbing on the other. Not an ideal design in my book.

My mechanic said that the Barnett springs were about 10% heavier than the Triumphs and admitted the stockers weren't heavy enough over the long haul..

Yea they told me that the springs are about 10 - 15% stronger so I guess that peace of meatal at the end of the cable is not strong enough . My dealer said they could have given it back to me and I may not even notice that its binding but he said that it will not last.
I'm just glad that there being honest with me and not charging me for any coast to make it stronger because I'm paying $828.75 for Barnett clutch and and braded cable including labour.
I pick my bike up Wednesday I'm interested to see what they did and I hope what ever they did is a good job.

They must be dinging you pretty hard for labor, the clutch is $162.95 and the cable is about $46.00.

They said I need o- rings for the front I think thats what they said and that was $161 and the Barnett clutch and my braided line was $75 and with my clutch and everything they needed was $300 and my labour was $300 so that came out to $761 and they tax $828.75 They have always have been good with me in prices hope They never over charged me this time .
