New...sorta

Hey all,
I've been hanging around the rat.net site for a couple years and decided to come over here for a look around....looks like I'll be staying awhile. I'm retired and my pillion will be doing so in June...topping off 30 years of teaching. We've travelled a lot in our 5 years together. Tho biking hasn't been a huge part of each trip, we did manage to rent a small bike in Jamaica a couple times, for a couple days on Zanzibar, none at all in Russia (tho we did manage to fall in love w/ the Urals and sidecars), increasing to 3 weeks in Greece, 2 months in the US and Canada last summer, and looking forward to 17 days of riding in S. America in October.
We've got a bit of a stable going as far as rides. We picked up an 82 Bonnie (and a 66 BSer) while looking for a 65 BSA...hoping to recapture the thrill of our college days together. (It worked!!) I inherited a 78 Honda CB 750 which has yet to see the road (tho it has been running a few times). After a trip to Yellowstone on the Bonnie we felt a more modern ride might be in order and stretched the pocketbook a bit to include the 06 Rocket Classic....and at the end of last summer's trip, when we stopped at the Rosalia custom bike rally, Sweet Thing demanded the Royal Enfield w/ sidecar. I actually lobbied somewhat against this one, hoping to maintain my self delusion that I'm not materialistic and don't really have too many machines to ride. I told her she'd hate herself in the morning. It didn't work...and she didn't.
I guess we're catching up on 25 years of not riding.
Thanks to you all for being here...I always learn a lot.

Last summer's trip report.

Welcome Chris. I enjoyed reading about your trip, and since it had lots of picutures I could read it real good.

Welcome Chris. I too have a sidecar. It's on my Bonnie. The Enfield as well as the Ural are a little too slow for my liking, I like to get to freeway speed sometime this month. Long as you have a sidecar outfit, I might as well invite you over to the USCA website. Lots of RE's and Ural's there. I just happen to be the Michignan State Representative not that it means anything. I believe, at last count, there were 5 outfits in the state. www.usca.com

Ride On

Chris..... It's always a pleasure to have someone who loves riding as much and you both do and sharing your experiences will add much to the site. Welcome and pictures are expected.

Thanks to all for the kind words of welcome....thanks pigr for checking out the trip report...tried hard to satisfy both the readers and the photo junkies.
Flip, I'll definitely be checking out the sidecar site....and you are totally correct about the RE being slow....but I do enjoy the contrast of riding styles...and the general population seems to forget to be impatient with our speed as they are too busy admiring the hack.
Pianoman....I tried to link to pics posted on the rat.net site, but couldn't get it to give me a link...so for now, til I learn better, it's best to click on the link to the trip report...bike and me are the first things up...and, of course, we're all spattered thoughout the report.
Looking forward to lucking around here quite a bit....just don't have much to offer as to technical aspects, mods, or anything like that...we're almost stock....barring beetle bags, floorboards, and Roadster screen.
