Adjusting Valve Clearances

I am setting this poll up by request.....

Only vote if you have actually had the valve clearances checked on your Rocket. Don't vote because you want to share your opinion, you can reply to this post if you have any thoughts. We only want input from those who have had the check done.

Thanks!

Checked once. Told there was no need for adjustment.

Had mine checked at 10k when it was also in for the paint can repair. The service manager said there was no adjustments necessary. I had fanagled a one hour service charge instead of the normal 4 hour charges. They then pushed it out of the shop and I cranked the beast up and listened closely for several minutes. The service manager saw my activities, then came out and told me the noise I was listening intently to was, "just valve noise" Perhaps I should have bartered for a two hour service charge

It doesn't matter WHO checked the clearances, it may turn out that those of you that did it yourselves may have done a better job than the unfortunate and oft maligned dealership mechanic. I just didn't want people voting who have never had them checked but are just guessing.

Also... we are not worried about mileage, but if you have had them checked twice over a period of time then I guess you can vote twice.

The nameless person (Rusty) who wanted this poll was just curious about the frequency of actual adjustments needed

I check them whenever I have the cam cover off (changing cams)... all good so far.
